can i kick it?

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

So, I been getting a lot of flack lately that all I do is preach about social justice and giving back to the community, but I don’t actually do jack. I’m a hypocrite, apparently.

Well, screw all you haters. Donchaknow the extensive amount of work I do for the scouting community? Why, just the other day, I went on a 10K walk to raise funds for scouts and other charities I blindly uplift. So, hah!

Don’t believe me? Here’s a photo to prove it. (Can you tell which one is me?)Cubscouts

Much love to my pal DM from the waaaayback for sending this my way. I love it.

That’s the gun time for my run at the marathon.

I’m still kinda sore.

I can’t believe I actually finished it.

Much love to A, who ran the last 5 miles with me. I couldn’t have done it without him.

And to the girls who ran the last part too, that was great.

I felt like a million bucks mentally, but sooooo tired physically.

I’m gonna go lie down now.

here we go

Yesh yesh y’all.

Hey! Let’s go run a marathon this sunday, wanna come?

Ooh, so exciting. I’m gonna run my first marathon this weekend. Wish me luck, huh?

(P, you know I’m only doing this in my quest to one-up ya. Hurry up and get another degree already.)

Oh, and I just bought a condo!

Well, we’ll close on it next month, but the offer’s accepted and everything’s going smooth. I’ll post some pics soon as I can.

I love applying for these loans and being told again and again how good my credit is. Really? It’s that great? Then why ain’t I rich? Huh? Tell me that!

Whoa. I picked up Homegrown!, the new Roots best-of/rarities collection. It made me a little angry, cuz I’ve got almost all these cuts either from the original albums or downloaded. But I discovered this! The first Rahzel & Dice Raw track. Holy moly! I think I listed to it on repeat for an hour straight as a busted 6 miles on the track the other day. And it’s a complete freestyle too!
Man, I love the Roots. Every now and then, you forget how amazing they are, right? And then you hear an old track, or talk to someone who saw them live, and you remember. Oh yeah, the greatest hip-hop band in history, hands down.

couple o shouts:

my inspiration, J, for stopping by this site and my other. How can I be more like her? I’m in awe of people so close to Jesus that they can’t help but do His will.

my realtor, who’s the best I’ve ever worked with! And to my pals V & A for setting me up with her. I thought buying and selling property was supposed to be a pain in the butt, not something fun and exciting.

that silly girl who didn’t save any chaat for me. harumph. you tease me too much, you knowing there ain’t no good chaat anywhere in texas.

my man, A, who threw down the cruel break up speech this week, on the worst possible time of the year. much respect to the man who can string this speech together and not crack under pressure. i’ve tried to give it so many times in my life, but i always end up getting sidetracked and then we decide to get some dinner.

L, who reminds me not to forget my goal, that each and every child deserves a high-quality education, no matter where they come from or who they are. I’ll help you in the fight, but only if you hire me one day when you’re big time.

and to S, who’s continually out of town. i’m trying to keep it simple. you just gotta trust me. really.

over and out.

My nephew!

Just upgraded to Wordpress 2. Such a silky-smooth upgrade, makes me realize that we’re living in wonderful times. When free, open-source software works all the time and is better than any commercial product out there. What a great world, huh?

Soy busy lately, you wouldn’t believe it. Papers to read, projects to finish, old work that still isn’t complete, and all this long-distance running is really startin to put a crimp onto my life.

Saturday, I ran 20 miles. Well, I’d say I ran 17.5 miles. The last 2.5, I kinda dragged my pathetic butt and walked a whole lot. But oh oh oh oh, I’m still a little sore. That and it took all morning! I promised my grandparents I would take em out to eat a traditional Taiwanese breakfast at my favorite place in Houston, Classic Kitchen. But we had to go to my cousin’s baby’s baptism, so by the time I got back from my run, which took 4 and a half hours, we couldn’t go get breakfast.

Yes. At least you can pretend to care, okay?

Hey, lookit that. What a nice little horizontal divider. Much better than the ol skool

tag, huh?
Yeah, so my grandparents and uncle and aunt from Seattle were in H-town this weekend, so I rolled over there to be with them. My sister came down too, one big ol’ family reunion. I love my grandparents.Even though my grandpa kept pestering me about my love life the whole time.
He’s 89 years old and has told me on numerous occasions that I better get married before he dies so he can perform the ceremony (he’s a pastor). You know, he’s been joking about that all my life, but now that he’s about to turn 90 years old, I’m starting to realize that it ain’t no joke anymore. Wow, I guess I better hurry up and find a girl to marry, huh?

Or maybe I’ve already found her.
